Wampanoag families lived in wetus. The frame of a wetu was made of young samplings. The frame was covered with woven grass in the summer and sheets of tree bark in the winter.
The first Thanksgiving was in 1621, when the Pilgrims in Plymouth Colony, along with the Wampanoags, gave thanks to God for their first harvest. Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States and Canada. It is a time for family get-togethers and good food.
